The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Honor Guard is a ceremonial unit composed of VFW members who perform military honors at funerals, parades, and patriotic events.

What the VFW Honor Guard Does

The VFW Honor Guard serves as a symbol of respect for veterans and active-duty service members. Typical duties include:

• Funeral Honors: Presenting the American flag, firing rifle volleys, and playing taps.
• Parades & Ceremonies: Marching in parades or participating in community and national events.
• Flag Presentations: For schools and public events.
• Veteran Services: Supporting events like Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies.

Become a Member of the Honor Guard

To join the  Honor Guard, you generally must:

·     Be a U.S. citizen

·     Be a member of Post 6918

Note: Honor Guard participation typically requires physical capability to handle ceremonial duties like marching and rifle handling.

How to Join

·     Contact a Post Officer

·     Submit Membership Application: If not currently a VFW member, join.

·     Attend a Meeting: Visit the Post to meet members and express your interest in joining the Honor Guard.

·     Honor Guard Training: The Post will provide training in ceremonial procedures and etiquette.
